I do not have the words to say I love you.
There is no dictionary vast enough,
no thesauras heavy enough to bear the weight.
So I will cook you dinner, an ostentatious display of food,
a feast of devotion.
I will bake cakes, decadent and extravagant,
sweet nothings in sugar and flour.
I will watch you from across the room,
I will watch you sleeping,
I will do what I do not want to do,
and I will love it, becuase it is for you.
I will hold you tight,
I will stifle you,
but I will never lie.
I will write for you, words jotted in permanence,
and when you must go, I will let you go,
though I will not want to.
I will remain, I will move on,
but I will be here forever.
Though I cannot find the words,
I hope this piece will suffice.
